TOURNAMENT GAMES:
The Pleasanton Turbos played in the Warm Springs Memorial Day Tournament and
they did what they wanted to do there, "win." The team was comprised of various
11 year old all-star players from several Little Leagues in the Tri-Valley area
and they went undefeated on the first two days of the tournament by outscoring
their opponents 34-1. Coach Greg Berg said he was expecting a lot from this
team since he hand-picked the unit and he was very proud of the way they
hammered their opponents.
The Pleasanton Patriots 11 year old tournament team also went undefeated in the
Warm Springs Tournament as they played outstanding ball against the East Bay
teams. The Patriots were combined players from Pleasanton American and PONY
Baseball and they outscored their opponents by a score of 25-5 on the first two
days of the tournament. Coaches Ray Schmidt and Kris David attributed their
fine tournament effort to a hard working group of young men who totally
dominated the other teams.
Also playing in the tournament were a group of 12 and 13 year old kids from
Pleasanton who had a spectacular time. The teams were comprised of
multi-talented players of various caliber who all lived in Pleasanton and
attended the tournament so they could play some baseball over the weekend. Each
team did not have the same level of success as the 11 year old all-star type
teams but all of the players to a person said they extremely enjoyed themselves
without the added pressure of a "win-at-all-cost" attitude. Great job kids and
coaches!
